The Faculty of Tourism has adopted the mission of training high and intermediate level, qualified manpower with the knowledge, skills and awareness required by today, who will contribute economically and socially to the tourism sector of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in our age where international competition is increasing, the economy is developing and technological developments are accelerating.
The education, which started with only associate degree education in 1990, continued with undergraduate education in tourism and hotel management in 1992. In addition to application kitchens, Tower Restaurant and Beach Club, students are prepared for life with the highest level of education and training in line with the needs of contemporary science and technology by receiving practical information as well as theoretical knowledge with the computer programs FIDELIO, GALILEO and AMADEUS, which are widely used worldwide.
EMU Faculty of Tourism Ranked as the 6th Globally in the Research Impact Category for the Field of Hospitality and Management
EMU was ranked within the 51-75 band globally in Hospitality and Tourism Management in the 2024 World University Academic Rankings, published by the China-based Shanghai Ranking. Furthermore, the university earned a score of 49.4 in the “Research Impact” category, placing 6th in the world for this field.
Our Faculty, whose mission is to provide an education that is contemporary, innovative, progressive and change-oriented, student-oriented, and that trains qualified manpower suitable for competitive conditions, meets the expectations of the sector and prepares for life, has formed an experienced academic staff with academicians who have published articles in international scientific journals and who have worked in the sector for many years to achieve these goals and increase the quality of education.
Tourism Management undergraduate program has been prepared to train senior, middle and lower-level manager candidates who are knowledgeable, leaders and equipped with many skills and talents that follow the accommodation sector in the world, in line with the vision and mission, as well as in the TRNC and Turkey, and in other countries, to develop the curriculum using new learning techniques, and thus to take its place among the respected educational institutions in the world by raising the quality of education to the highest level.
When we look at the facilities of our faculty, 3 computer laboratories equipped with CD-ROM, multimedia, internet and e-mail facilities are available for students' use. Our students' theoretical lessons are supported with programs integrated with multimedia. Fidelio program is a popular software system preferred by accommodation establishments in the world and in our country today. Our students can receive training on the Fidelio program, which is preferred by the world's largest hotel chains. Seven Demo Kitchens are fully equipped and have a technological infrastructure, providing students with the opportunity to understand the working and operating principles of a professional kitchen. Similarly, food and beverage service and management courses are also conducted at the Tower Restaurant and our students have the chance to learn by applying service techniques.
With the advantage provided by the education program supported by application, students will have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of career options in the tourism sector after graduation.
